Key west flats fishing report 3/13/13
I fished with Bill Schenll and his son on a very blustery cold day in Key west. The wind was blowing hard enough that my only option was channel fishing for tarpon. I went to a spot that the fish usually run through on an incoming tide, we had 70 degree water temp and a strong tide so I felt confident of a hook up despite the north wind. The first bait we threw out was instantly eaten and out jumps our tarpon, we fought this fish for around 10 minutes before he shook off boat side. Our next fish we landed was this very large barracuda that Bill brought to the boat and after a picture we released. The fishing slowed down as the wind stiffened and the temp dropped so we headed home.
