Key west monthly fishing report 3/13
Key west flats fishing report March 2013
Looking back on March, I remember a colder than average month with a lot of cancelled trips however my pictures tell a different story. The star of the show this month was very large barracudas, many of my clients catching 20+ pounders. There were a few days when the water temperature rose above 70 degree and the tarpon fishing went off. Several of my clients hooked multiple fish but we did not get any boat side. The jack fishing was absolutely off the charts with my clients catching them on both fly and spin gear, we also caught them in channels, on the flats and following birds. The shark fishing, just like the tarpon fishing was hit and miss with the fluctuating water temp. The bonefish started to show up in big numbers as they make there annual migration from the atlantic to the the gulf.
April will begin the huge tarpon migration so most of my fishing reports will be dominated by them. I will be fishing for sharks, permit, cudas, bonefish and permit.
