Key west flats fishing report 7/2-7/3/13

With a tropical depression hanging over the gulf and Key west the past 2 days of fishing has been challenging to say the least. The first day I fished with James Patterson we started out tarpon fishing in Key west harbor and a backcountry channel. We spotted several schools and a few singles but we did not hook up. The next move was sight fishing for permit, barracuda, sharks and bonefish on the flats. James landed a very large lemon shark and we spooked several permit due to poor visibility before we finally landed a nice bonefish. The second day I fished with Chris/Ashley Stoke and much like the first day we started out tarpon fishing and again I did not hook up. We missed 3 cudas before Chris hooked and landed a nice permit. Ashley ended up landing 2 huge lemon sharks and we spooked a permit plus lost another huge barracuda before the 6hr trip was over.
