Key west fishing report 3/2-3/3 2013
The first day started out flat calm and the tarpon were flowing into the basins, I had Mike Hoffman on the bow with a 10wt and a dark deer hear fly. There were tarpon rolling and busting shrimp all over the place, Mike had 3 fish roll on the fly before he came tight to a nice 80 pounder. We fought this fish to to the boat before the leader separated. Dan was up next using Hogy lures and crabs and even though there were tarpon everywhere we did not draw a strike. The middle of the day was slow but on our last flat Dan landed a trophy cuda.
Day 2
I fished with Dan Leach, we hook and had several jumps from a very large tarpon but it broke off. We then went permit fishing and had several shot before Dan landed a fish on his bucket list, after a 5-10 minute fight we were taking a picture of this nice 10 pound permit. We had several more shots before I spotted a fish mudding in about 3 feet of water, Dan presented the crab perfectly and after a much longer fight we landed a trophy Key west permit.
