Flats fishing with the fishing mortician
Matt and i have been fishing the flats off key west for almost 15 years together. This year I got the pleasure to fish with him for 2 days, day 1 we got quite a few shot at schools of tarpon. Matt was a little rusty and we did not hook any fish. We headed out back to try our luck with barracudas and permit. We had several cudas eat the tube lures but like the tarpon we did not land any. Our luck with permit was much better and we landed 2 very large permit.
The second day we left in the afternoon, we headed east of Key west to catch the falling tide out east. The permit were flowing and we landed to permit on our first flat. We went in search of bonefish but did not find any so we headed back towards Key west in search of a worm hatch. We hound a mini hatch and Matt jumped 3 tarpon on Hogies. The sun set and we headed to the gulf to catch the falling tide and fish tarpon busting shrimp. Matt jumped quite a few tarpon on a Hogies but we did not land any.
